Coagulation

Specialists' work: removing a wart, barley grain, blood blisters or fatty lumps. Sometimes, your family doctor or dermatologist will not be able to do this for you. The small, innocent irregularities are not 'medical', but are 'cosmetically' annoying. What to do now? At the Huid & Laser Kliniek Delft, our experienced dermal therapists make time for you. We are extremely careful and choose the coagulation method that suits you best. Sometimes with an electrocoagulation needle, sometimes with a zapper or curette ring. Always to achieve the best result.

Fortunately, they are often harmless: skin warts (fibroma or skin tag), age-related warts, black or brown bumps, blood blisters, and barley granules. However, they can bother you. So let's do something about it with a coagulation treatment. With a pointed hot electrode or sharp little ring, we remove blemishes quickly and effectively.

During a free consultation at Huid & Laser Kliniek Delft, we discuss your needs and look at the spots to be treated. This allows us to determine any causes, but also to immediately draw up a careful treatment plan. Often only 1 or 2 follow-up appointments are needed.

Coagulation in our clinic has five proven effective methods. From laser therapy to an electrocoagulation needle. With a treatment that suits your skin type, we remove the blemishes that bother you. Afterwards, the skin usually recovers within a week.

Step-by-step coagulation treatment

Coagulation in Delft can be performed in different ways. Within our clinic 3 different methods are available, including: curette ring in combination with an anesthetic spray, laser therapy, and treatment with an electrocoagulation needle. Because everyone - and thus the skin indication - is different. This is how we improve your skin in 5 steps:

Step 1.

We take a picture of the skin for the optimal before and after result;

Step 2.

The dermal therapist recommends the coagulation method that best suits your skin;

Step 3.

Before the first treatment starts, we professionally disinfect the skin;

Step 4.

With targeted heat, the spot is nipped, burned or scraped away;

Step 5.

We discuss together the progress, further treatment plan and use of products.

After the coagulation treatment, your skin may be red for a few days. No worries, this is part of it. Within a week the small scabs disappear and your skin will heal completely. We advise you to protect the spots up to 4 weeks after treatment against the sun. For example, use a daily sunscreen with an SPF of at least factor 30. 1 day after treatment the spots may be camouflaged with make-up.

Number of treatments

Do you want to have a stem wart or fatty lump removed? On average, these types of blemishes require 1 to 2 treatments per spot. Of course, the number of appointments partly depends on the size of the area you want to have treated at the Huid & Laser Kliniek Delft. During the free consultation our dermal therapists will be happy to make an indication of the number of treatments for your best result.

Coagulation can be (partially) reimbursed from the supplementary insurance. You can find the amount of the insured amount in the policy conditions. There are health insurers who require a referral from the physician or dermatologist, our dermal therapists can help you with that too.

Frequently asked questions

Removal of fatty lumps with coagulation, does this hurt?

To be honest, the treatment can be quite sensitive. Heat is used to specifically remove the spot. This can give a brief burning sensation. When a larger area is treated, you can also choose to rub the skin with an anesthetic cream. This cream is available through your doctor and should be applied half an hour before the treatment.

What does coagulation exactly mean?

Coagulation is a specialized treatment technique used to burn away uneven skin spots. This treatment technique should be performed by an experienced dermal therapist. Thus, all kinds of irregularities are eliminated, such as a stem wart or barley grain. But also several fatty lumps can be removed. Schedule a free consultation with our dermal therapist.

I want to remove my eyelid wart, is it okay to treat this with coagulation?

Yes, you can with the coagulation of Huid & Laser Kliniek Delft. We can imagine that this is extra stressful, because it takes place close to your eye. But our dermal therapists do this often and work very carefully. You are in good hands. Schedule a free consultation with our dermal therapist now.

Are there things I should not do for the first 48 hours after my coagulation treatment?

Yes, there are two things that are preferably avoided for the optimal recovery of the skin. First of all, it is advisable not to go swimming. This is because the coagulation has created a small wound and this makes you more sensitive to bacteria. It is also better not to apply makeup to the wound. Fresh air is better for recovery.

What are the rates for coagulation treatment?

Good news: coagulation can be (partially) reimbursed from the supplementary insurance. Please contact our dermal therapists or check the terms of your insurance policy. At Huid & Laser Kliniek Delft we have two different rates for coagulation in Delft: a small area up to 5 spots costs 75, - per treatment and for the coagulation of a large area from 5 spots the rate is 125, - per treatment.
