Laser hair removal is - thanks to its effectiveness - a popular treatment. We would like to hear during a free consultation in our clinic how we can help you with laser hair removal. Together we make a treatment plan and work on a smooth skin without unwanted hair, stubble or skin irritation.

We can laser your hair with two special lasers: the Nd:yag 1064 nm laser and the Diode Lightsheer DUET 805 nm laser. The Lightsheer DUET is the best laser in the field of hair removal of lighter skin types and reaches even the finest and deepest hairs. This allows us to remove hair from any area or spot on the body. Combine this specialized laser equipment with professional advice from our skin therapist and achieve a hair removal rate of up to 90%.

Step-by-step laser hair removal treatment

Laser hair removal in Delft, we have two special lasers: the diode laser and the Nd:yag laser. The Diode laser is for lighter skins (skin types 1 to 4) and can be used for the whole body. And the Nd:yag laser is perfect for dark pigmented skins (skin types 5 and 6). We use this laser for the face. And This is how we laser your hair in 6 steps:

Step 1

We look at your skin and hair growth and determine suitability for laser treatment;

Step 2

The dermal therapist makes an appropriate treatment plan with you;

Step 3

Before the laser treatment begins, you are given protective glasses;

Step 4

All hairs are carefully examined and where necessary made 'treatment ready';

Step 5

Start the treatment: the light flashes do their job and break up the hair follicles;

Step 6

Together we discuss the progress.

After the laser hair removal, the skin may be slightly red and may feel a little burning. No worries, this is part of the process and disappears quickly. Immediately after treatment you can resume almost all daily activities. And the best part is: within 2 weeks after the treatment the hair begins to fall out!

Number of treatments

On average, unwanted hair growth requires 6 to 8 treatments to achieve the desired result. In the case of black and brown hair, about 70% to 90% of the hair follicles are destroyed and the very last hairs are often thin and minuscule. The frequency of the laser treatment depends on the area that we are lasering. In the face we laser every 4 to 6 weeks and unwanted hair growth on the body we laser every 6 to 8 weeks.

Of course you want to get rid of the hair forever.  Therefore, plan 1 to 2 separate maintenance treatments each year after your treatment. This way we ensure that the hairs bother you as little as possible. Our dermal therapist can tell you all about this during a free consultation.

Rates of laser hair removal treatment

Frequently asked questions

Is laser hair removal permanent?

With laser hair removal you can count on a substantial hair reduction. The hairs that may remain are usually minimal, thin and fine in structure. We advise you to schedule 1 to 2 separate treatments per year for a lasting result, especially when it comes to hormone sensitive areas: mouth, tummy area, etc. If you want to know more about this, we are happy to schedule a free consultation with you at Huid & Laser Kliniek Delft.

Can laser treatment be performed on sun tanned skin?

No, it may not. The skin - especially the area we will be lasering - must have stayed out of the sun for at least 6 weeks. Our laser reacts to pigment. The greater the contrast between skin and hair, the better. Of course, you want only the colored hair to be lasered and not your skin pigment.

Within how many laser treatments will I be rid of my unwanted hair growth?

On average, 6 to 8 laser treatments are required to achieve the desired result. This means that 70% to 90% of the hair follicles are destroyed and the remaining hairs are thin in structure. After treatment you can usually immediately resume your daily activities.

Will I be hair free immediately after the laser treatment?

No, not directly. The short shaven hairs grow after the laser treatment according to the normal hair growth cycle. But about 1 to 2 weeks after the laser treatment you will notice that the hairs in the lasered area will let go and it will take much longer for the hair to grow back.

Does laser hair removal treatment hurt?

The hair removal laser emits flashes of light, which can feel like a rubber band is shooting against the skin. When there is a lot of thick and dark hair present, you can often feel a bit more than when it comes to thin hair. Exactly how much it hurts, of course, also depends a bit on your pain tolerance level.

What laser do we use and how does it differ from other lasers?

We choose to remove hair with the Diode Lightsheer DUET laser at 805 nm. This laser has 2 hand pieces. The small ET hand piece (1 cm2 surface area) that we use to treat smaller areas such as the upper lip. The large HS hand piece (6 cm2 surface area) which is used to treat larger areas such as armpits, bikini line and legs. Our lasers work with light and react to pigment, therefore dark skin types need a special approach. Want to know more about your skin type and which laser treatment suits it? Please contact us.

What is the difference between IPL and laser?

The difference between IPL hair removal (Intense Pulsed Light) and laser treatment is the type of light. The IPL has a scattered beam of light that does not penetrate as deeply into the skin. A laser treatment works with light beams that reach deeper and more targeted through the skin. The effect is the same: the pigment in the hair follicles is heated and so the growth cells are damaged. The hair can no longer grow back. An IPL gives good results, but the laser treatment works much deeper and gives even better results.

Is a laser hair removal treatment the same as a brazilian wax?

The similarity is that both treatments aim to stop unwanted hair growth. However, the brazilian wax uses, the name says it all, the wax technique. This is a painful and less effective treatment than our laser treatment. All hairs grow back after 6 weeks. The laser hair removal of Huid & Laserkliniek Delft is professional, effective and focused on (lasting) results. Therefore, the laser treatments are only performed by qualified dermal therapists. It really is a long-term investment.

What laser is used to treat facial hair?

Laser hair removal in Delft we do with two different lasers: the Nd:yag laser and the Diode laser. Both with FDA approval and both proven effective. The Nd:yag laser is especially for dark pigmented skins (skin types 5 and 6). This laser we use only for the face. The Diode laser is for lighter skins (skin types 1 to 4) and is used for the entire body.

What problems can a laser hair removal treatment be booked for?

The problem we often see in women is hypertrichosis (too much hair) and hirsutism (a male hair pattern). PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) can also cause an increase in hair growth on the body. In addition, we see many people who suffer from ingrown hairs in the buttocks or inflammation in the armpits and groin. Laser hair removal can greatly reduce all these complaints.

Is the laser treatment suitable for red, blonde and gray hair?

Unfortunately, there is no effective laser method for blonde, red and gray hair at this time. A proven effective treatment is electric epilation in small areas. Wondering what we can do for you? Please contact a dermal therapist.
