Our feet are the carriers of our body. After all, they take us everywhere. Besides wanting to maintain your healthy feet, it is sometimes necessary to take care of complaints caused by illness, aging or intensive sports, for example. Our medical pedicurist is specially trained for this and works closely with podiatrists, among others. Your feet are in good hands with our medical pedicure at Huid & Laser Kliniek Delft.
At Huid & Laser Kliniek Delft we offer 5 different types of (medical) pedicure treatments. So choose the treatment that suits you best. Are you not quite there? Please feel free to contact us.
1. Basic pedicure treatment
In a basic treatment, all facets are addressed. The feet are cared for and problems are corrected. The nails are cut and where necessary flattened by means of a cutter. The nail environment will be cleaned. Hereby the cornified skin substance is removed from the nail wall.
In a basic treatment the following problems can be taken care of:
In case of a mycosis (fungus) nail, we will individually look at which treatment fits best. The excessive callus is removed with a knife and polished with a cutter.
For fissures, the edges of the fissures are removed with a small knife up to the fissure. Then the area is polished with a router.
The treatment of a corn consists of removing excess callus around the corn and then deeper into the callus layer using a ball-headed router to remove the end of the corn. Sometimes supplements, orthoses or adapted footwear can be used to better distribute the pressure, which will make the corn less likely to develop.
The treatment of an ingrown nail may consist of removing pressure from the nail. Cutting the nails straight and not too short. Furthermore, there are techniques to regulate the growth of the nail to prevent it from penetrating the nail wall.
2. Basic pedicure + massage
A wonderful massage is added to the basic treatment. During the foot massage the blood circulation is stimulated. This removes fatigue and relaxation takes its place.
3. Pedicure de luxe
This is pure indulgence! After the basic treatment, the skin is cleaned by means of scrubbing. The dead skin cells are thus removed. After a wonderful foot bath follows a foot massage. Because blood circulation is stimulated, the production of new skin cells will increase, improving the elasticity of the skin. Then a mask is applied. The feet are covered with foil to better absorb the active ingredients. Fatigue will give way to an overall relaxation.
4. Pedicure partial treatment
In a basic treatment are the elaborate partial treatments already included (except the sculpture gel nail treatment). These treatments below are also separately to plan with us.
- Nail Treatment
- Fungal nail treatment
- Excessive calluses and fissures
- Corn
- Ingrown toenail
5. Medical pedicure
The medical pedicurist, just like pedicurist, is concerned with the care of the foot and the treatment of skin and nail disorders. In addition, the medical pedicurist also carries out specialist treatments, such as the treatment of at-risk feet, where there is an increased risk of complications due to illness (e.g. diabetes, rheumatism, spasticity, cancer) or other causes (e.g. old age, neglect). Depending on the client's symptoms, the medical pedicurist performs the appropriate specialized treatment. She knows the proper techniques, materials and work sequence. To make locations on the foot pressure-free, she applies, among other things, anti-pressure techniques. She can also perform nail prostheses and repairs. As a medical pedicurist you are aware of the various contraindications, where certain treatments may not be performed. The specialist treatments are aimed at prevention and pain reduction.
The (medical) pedicure meets strict requirements and is listed in the Quality Register for Pedicures (KRP). For health insurers, registration in the KRP guarantees the quality of the registered pedicure. Besides this registration with the KRP, the pedicure is also a member of ProVoet, professional organization for pedicures.

Nail fungus treatment
Approximately 25% of the population suffers from nail fungus from time to time. The cause is fungi that penetrate the skin and/or the nail and cause an infection. These are mainly found in rooms where it is warm and moist, think of a bathroom, sauna and dressing room. Because fungal nails are also contagious, a transfer of the infection is easy.
A fungal nail can be recognized in different ways and has different characteristics depending on the progress of the infection. When the infection is in its early stages, the nail edges may become slightly discolored to a yellow, brown or green color. Small spots may also form on the nail. In the more advanced stages, the nail itself turns from white to yellowish brown. The nail fungus is crumbly and small pieces may break off. Accumulation of fungi under the nail pushes it upward, making the nail appear thicker. In reality, the infection "breaks off" the nail, as it were, and it actually becomes thinner. In an advanced stage, the nail is completely discolored and very fragile. It can even happen that the nail comes loose completely.
Callus formation is a natural reaction of the skin to extra pressure. A natural protective layer that we need. However, excessive callus often gives rise to unpleasant symptoms. Cracks are places where the skin is torn. The cause is often a dry or softened skin. Often cracks at the heel occur because of dry skin. The elasticity of the skin is reduced and therefore leads to cracking. Treatment of callus removal and fissuresExcessive callus is removed with a blade and polished with a cutter. For fissures, the edges of the fissure are removed with a blade up to the fissure. Then the area is polished with a cutter. To get the skin in a better condition we can inform you about our foot care products.
A corn, also known as an ''ekster eye'', is a strong callus formation on a small area of skin. It is a misconception to think that a corn has a root. In fact, a corn grows from the outside in. That is, the callus formed is pushed inward by the pressure of a shoe in a small area. Due to the cone shape, with the point inwards, the corn hurts when one presses on it. The treatment consists of removing excess callus around the corn and then deeper into the callus layer using a ball-headed drill to remove the end of the corn. Sometimes supplements, orthoses or adapted footwear can be used to better distribute the pressure so that the corn is less likely to develop.
An ingrown nail is a painful condition that needs to be corrected as soon as possible. The biggest risk factors for developing ingrown toenails is pressure from ill-fitting shoes, from improper - too short - cutting and a soft nail environment from bathing or perspiration. The treatment of an ingrown nail can consist of making the nail pressure free. Cutting the nails straight and not too short. There are also techniques to regulate the growth of the nail by placing a nail brace to prevent the nail from penetrating the nail wall. Another technique that can provide relief is the application of a gel nail using the sculpture gel system. The large traction of the gel removes the nail from the skin and makes it grow back straight and healthy after a few treatments.
